To Swallow the Summer | Book Announcement

Hey Ya’ll,

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up — my second collection of poetry just dropped over at Budget Press yesterday! Can you fucking believe that shit?? I know I keeps saying it, but I cannot tell how you god damn WEIRD it is to have two books published — like, this shit was a dream of mine since I was 5 years old. And now it’s happened. Just… surreal, man.

lj coverReally, all this shit is because of you guys — all of you who follow, like and sometimes comment on my shit. The love is overwhelming, and I am so incredible grateful for all of you (about 100 or so here, and 300 over on the asshole of the internet [twitter]) If I could give you all a happy ending, I totally would — but I just don’t have that many frequent flyer miles, hands or time, really. Just know I really, really appreciate you all.

Anywho — on to the book. This is a very different collection than Fuck It – much softer and it’s a cohesive collection, meaning it’s telling a story that just happens to be written in poems.  Johnnie B. Baker over at Budget press was a peach to work with — he’s the one that chose the title and the cover art, so this is as much his baby as it is mine.  And check this shit out — it’s only $4 USD!

Also!!! I recorded a podcast with Johnnie earlier this summer in prep for the release — and I think that’s coming out on Monday. I’ll make sure to post the link so you can hear it — it’s very short, and has about 5 poems from this collection in it. You’ll actually be able to hear my voice. 🙂

So, yeah, you can buy it here

And if you do, please make sure to rate / review it over at GoodReads

FUCK IT! | Book Announcement

giphyYa’ll, I’m not even going to lie…. I’ve got zero cool right now. My debut chapbook is about to drop with Newington Blue Press in 2 – 3 weeks!!!

The title is Fuck It: An Explicit Chapbook (click the link to pre-order!) and it really describes the giant leap of faith I took last October.  I’ve been writing stories since I was five years old, and poetry since my angst-ridden teenage years back in the 90’s. I never shared any of it with anyone because… as the name of this website implies … I always thought my work was total shit.

Last October I was going through some rough shit, and was writing a lot. At one point I – quite literally – said, “Fuck it. I’ll post this shit, and see if anyone digs it.” I have to say… I didn’t have a lot of hope. I figured my work was too raw, or too sarcastic, or too gross for anyone to like it. But, Lo! and Behold! There are other twisted motherfuckers out there, just like me, who prefer the real shit to the synthetic garbage that’s so popular with big house publishers.

I’ve got 100 followers here on this little WordPress site, and almost 100 over there on the Twitter. I’m just… fucking blown away, and so grateful for you all.  So, I’ve got a little surprise coming for you all – just a little something to show my gratitude for all the love and support you’ve given me this last year, or so.

So… STAY TUNED!!

Books ‘n Shit | Life Updates

Hey, hey fellow perverts, degenerates and all around good-ass people!

I wanted to hop on and check in on ya’ll to see how you’re doing. How ya been? How ya doing? What’s new? You got any cool successes? If so, drop ’em in the comments and let’s celebrate that shit with a drink!

The semester is over and I’ve taken a month to revert to my vampire’s sleep schedule, so I don’t feel like a fucking reanimated corpse anymore. It’s Cancer season, baby, and I’m feeling vibrant as shit right now!

I heaved a huge sigh of relief the other day; I submitted my final manuscript (which needs desperate arrangement) to my dude over at Newington Blue. We got a title, and we’re working on author pic and cover art now. I’ll be the second release over there, so I’m thinking the fall or something. I’ll keep you updated!

For now I’m trying to bang out the rest of the Song of the Sister for Budget Press which is turning into a real fucking beast on my end. Initially I was writing with my usual chaotic energy, but something shifted and I’m getting real intentional with it. It’s, for sure, the most structured writing I’ve done outside academia and it’s taking all my brain power, talent and writing skill to get it done.

Anywho, I hope you’re all having a good summer. Let me know what you’re up to.
